Roulette is one of the most popular casino games in the world. It has been around since the late 1700s, and it is played at both brick-and-mortar and online casinos. It is a game of chance and requires no special skill or abilities to play it.
There are many different variations of this popular game. Each of these variations has its own rules and bets. If you’re new to the game, it’s important to understand the differences between each of them to maximize your chances of winning.
American Roulette
The American version of roulette is slightly different from the European version. It has a double-zero wheel, and the odds of winning are lower than in European Roulette. The house edge for this game can be as high as 5.26%.
French Roulette
The French game of roulette is also slightly different from its American and European counterparts. The main difference is that the board and the wheel are larger and have a different layout. The numbers in the game are numbered from 1 to 36 with the zero being coloured red and the double-zero being black. The odds of the zero landing are higher in French Roulette than they are in either the American or European versions.
In French Roulette, there are four main bets that can be placed on the layout: Dozens Bet, Odd or Even Bet, Line Bet/Six Number Bet/Sixline Bet and Basket Bet. The Dozens Bet wagers that the number will fall in the first 12 numbers on the table, while the Odd or Even Bet wagers that the winning number will be one of the 18 odd or 18 even ones on the board.
If you’re new to the game, make sure to start off with inside bets before moving on to outside bets. These are easier to place and require less skill than the other bets, but they have a lower payout.
Street Bet/Number Bet/Six Number Bet: This bet is made by placing chips on the end of a row of three numbers. The payoff is usually 2 to 1.
Column Bet/Column Bet/Six Number Bet: This bet straddles two horizontal lines on the layout. You place your chip(s) on the bottom of the line that separates the rows, and the payoff is 2 to 1.
Line Bet/Sixline Bet: This bet straddles a horizontal line between two lines on the layout. You place your chip(s) either on the top of one line or the bottom of the other. The payoff is 5 to 1.
Basket Bet: This bet straddles the dividing line between the zero row and the row featuring 1, 2, 3 and 4. It’s made by placing your chips in the same way as a line bet.
In order to win, you must correctly predict the number that will land on the wheel when the dealer spins it. After the ball lands on a number, the dealer checks it against all of the bets and pays out any winners. Then, all of the losing bets are cleared off the table and new bets can be made.
